Turkey is ready to host Euro 2012 if Ukraine, Poland failed

Turkey offered to host the 2012 European Football Championship, if Ukraine and Poland, co-organizer of the largest European football organizations, back to the economic shocks that have affected Ukraine, Turkish sports minister said on Wednesday.

Turkish State Minister for Sports Murat Basesgioglu told a parliamentary committee meeting that Turkey hosted a major international sporting events in the past and can competently host Euro 2012.

News reports earlier said that Ukraine is in a severe financial crisis threatening the country's capacity to host the European championship in 2012, most construction projects have stalled due to a liquidity crisis.

Ukraine is a joint championship with neighboring Poland, but both were warned several cases of UEFA, European soccer governing body, to expedite preparations for the organization.

Poland football chief suggested at the end of October, that Germany could replace Ukraine as co-host Euro 2012.
